Owners/curators Cynthia Switzer Roth and Anne Marie Crotty are both practicing artists. In 2002 they began directing the annual Art in Lanesville event. They had fun, and learned that they worked well together. They also discovered that organizing and designing the shows provided exciting creative challenges. More than anything, both Cynthia and Anne Marie were tremendously impressed by the high quality of local art and the strong sense of community that the Art in Lanesville show generated. They decided to start a gallery that would showcase local artists and build on the strong artistic heritage of the area.
In2008, after a successful five year run at Art in Lanesville, they opened Flatrocks Gallery. A small, comfortable space brimming with creative energy, it affords a year-round venue for the work of local artists, past and present. By curating as many as five shows a year, Cynthia and Anne Marie provide constantly evolving examples of the area’s tradition of artistic excellence, with a range of media and prices that make fine art accessible to all.
